Today let me respectfully bring forward my friend...
(yes you all know him well)
My kitchen-aid stand mixer
(Gasps of admiration
and a patter of applause must follow)
Why do I love the this stand-mixer?
I use my mixer every week for one thing or another. Cookies, pancakes, pie crust... just about everything!
I love that I do not have to take up one of my hands, I can just set it to mix and keep measuring ingredients.
The speed settings seem to be just right for whatever I have mixing away in there.
I love the pull knob slider. Makes it easier to grab if I get a little flour or sugar on my fingers.
Two unusual things that I use my mixer for would be mixing meatloaf/meatballs and making pie crusts.
It is perfect for mixing meat. I love that I don't have to get me hands super filthy!
Also my pie crusts. It is so easy to just dropped the chilled butter in and let it do the work.
Clean up is easy and things wash right out of the bowl and the wand... it is a nice simple process
Is there a downside to the mixer?
There are a couple of little issues I have with the older mixers.
The height between the top of the machine and bowl is a little off.
Sometimes you can't quite get your hand in to place ingredients
The rim where you put the bowl can be pretty hard to clean as food gets caught in the lip.
Closing Thoughts
I love this little piece of kitchen-heaven but, it is pretty spendy.
I do think in the long run it is truly worth it to have.
If you feel the price tag is a little steep you could always try finding one at a garage-sale or craigslist.
Unless you are one of those folks who do not buy used. In which case, I love you and hope your mind is changed soon. You are missing a wonderful world of thrift-opperunity.
