Pom Poms

These are super easy, fun and amazing! I sound like a used car sales-man.

So here is what you need

10 pieces of tissue paper
1 pipe cleaner 

Lay out your 10 pieces and smooth them by hand.
Cut them in half 
Then accordion fold them up (Resist the urge to hum Lawrence Welk tunes)
When you have it all folded up.
Take scissors and round the two ends so you have a long stack of tissue paper with round ends.
Then, start fanning the paper out and pulling it out to full fluffiness

It should look something like this.
Enjoy your Pom Poms in all their puffy glory!

Onesie Cupcakes

I am excited to attend my 2nd of 3 baby-showers in a 4 week period.
I love everything about baby and wedding showers! I admit to being very much a girly girl in this area of life.
I love the gifts, the foods, games and punch!
I was trying to think up something new to bring as a gift, and I found a fun post online with beautiful photos.
I knew I wanted to try to put these together.
They are fun, and pretty easy.
Here is the 101.

ONESIE CUPCAKES
You will need:
A cupcake box (Sold at Walmart 3 for $3.50)
Cupcake liners or coffee filters
rubber bands
ribbon
Onesies
Burp clothes, hair bows, flowers, clips, socks or other accessories that will be cupcake-ish.

Place onesie out flat....stomach down.
Fold in half length wise and tuck in arms.
Add in accessories item so it is sticking out the top 
Roll it up like a little  tortilla wrap.
Place ribbon band around it, toward the bottom and place cupcake liner around it
Tie with a ribbon

Repeat until you have four cupcakes

Place in the box and create a fun gift-tag using matching scrapbook paper.

Glass Jar Decor

I have read all the tutorials on to make little apothecary time jars and so now,
I decided it was time to make some for myself.
They are not quite as cute as I wanted but, I still like them.
My dollar store did not have the same pieces that I have seen at other stores to set things up correctly.
I think I will go to Micheal's and Walmart next to try again.
Still, for $4, it is not bad.

I used two glass containers and two candle-sticks
Hot glued them together and tada!

Creating

The candy is Bella's go to the bathroom candy

I received this beautiful shelf from a dear friend.
I must admit, my shrinking brain could not quite set itself on what I wanted to put in it.

After reading a blog I follow, it hit me, Scrapbook paper!
So, I found a large pack with vintage prints for only $5, what a deal!
I cut them out and pasted the pieces in each opening of the shelf.
The picture does  not do it justice and makes it look I did not line up the pieces properly.
My camera was dying, as cameras often like to do.

It looks great and I am so excited to also frame some pieces and put them up in Bella's room.
An inexpensive wall hanging solution!

Scrapping Pleasures

I love Scrap-booking so much! Many thanks to my friends Julie and Lesley who first made me curious about the copious amounts of adorable papers, fun embellishments and endless creative ideas!
Here are a couple of very simple layouts I have been working on.
I am trying to finish a basic book for my son before he gets here,
but I also can not stop wishing I could work more on my daughter's album. (Sigh)
May the creative bug bite you as it has done me!

Covered Light Switch Plates

I found this on Martha Stewart's Website and I will be making it tomorrow :)
I wanted to share it with you all today.

Light switch Covers

Trace switch plate onto back of paper.
Cut paper about 1/4 inch wider than outline; brush craft glue onto back;
place switch plate face-down. Cut each corner at an angle slightly beyond corner of plate.
Fold sides onto back of plate, using bone folder to smooth. With utility knife, cut X into paper covering switch cutout; brush glue onto flaps; smooth to plate's back side.
Make tiny X in paper covering screw holes. Turn over. Dab glue into holes. Use pin tip to push paper from front to back, opening holes. (When mounted, the screws will hide minor imperfections.) Seal paper with water-based urethane, fabric with Scotchgard.

Who Knew You Could Make A Toothpick Cute?

I have found a way to use ribbons to make adorable toothpick toppers.
It is in the latest edition of Martha Stewart Living,
and you can bet that I will be using the design a lot!


You will need only three simple things!
Thin Ribbon
Toothpicks
Scissors

Cut the ribbon into 4 inch lengths

Take ribbon and make into a U shapePlace against tooth pick and pull the ends through the top of the U
(Yes I know that is not a toothpick, but I did not have any.....whoops!!!)Pull tightly and you are done.
Isn't that idea just too adorable!
