The Second Place Husband

Good Afternoon Ladies,

In the same theme as my blog yesterday
I want to talk a little bit more about the Husband's place at home.

I think, sometimes as wives, we can get so busy with the running of a household, children
and hobbies that we forget about our spouse.
I know I have done this many times myself.
I get wrapped up in what needs to be done and I forget who God has me serving.

As Christians it is important for us to place other people's feelings above our own.
Can we honestly say that we do that to our husbands?
Or are we letting him slide to second or third on our list of "important" things.

I think there are practical steps that we can take to help elevate
our husband's importance in our lives.

1.Time in prayer
Spend some of each day in prayer for your husband.
Ask the Lord to make him a strong leader, pray for his health,
pray for your heart to be kept soft toward your husband.
This is the front line of the battle in keeping our husband a priority.

2. Remember who was there first.
You married your husband, not your children.
Kids are truly a blessing from the Lord but, never should they become the "leader" in the home. That is, and should always be your husband.

3. Make a place for him in your hobbies.
If you scrapbook, create an album for him,
if you sew perhaps a new shirt,
if you enjoy painting create something just for his keeping.
It is amazing how your hobby will take on even more meaning as you make something for him.

We may feel like in our mind we know these things,
the difficulty lies in applying them to our heart and creating a pattern of doing them.
I encourage you to reflect today on how your husband ranks on your list of priorities..... are you placing his needs above your own?
Are you thinking of ways to make him feel loved and encouraged?
1Timothy 2:12 says "encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of
God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory."

Being a wife is certainly not an easy thing is it ladies?
It requires much prayer and
trusting in our Lord to direct our paths.

Let us take time to pray for each other
as we are all in this journey together.

Proverbs 19:14
Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the Lord
