When a husband comes home it is a crucial time of day.
All day he has toiled for his family.
As a wife, I may have struggled through the day, but all the time I was surrounded by my lovely home, my things, and the phone to call a friend.
Our husbands have no outlet at work for feelings of frustration or angst.
The work-force is a place of giving up yourself.
Our homes need to be a refuge, a safe place to come and feel encouraged.
My mother in law told me recently that she used to do everything in her power to get the kids excited for Daddy to come home and have them ready to welcome him. They would run to the door saying "Dad's home! Dad is home!"
What a great welcome!
I know, My husband loves having something refreshing ready for him to drink after a long day at the ranch. I try and always have iced tea or lemonade on hand. I did not realize this until now, but to him giving him that drink is saying " I care about what you have done for our family"
Making the home welcome to our husbands is a very important role as a wife.
The bible says that as Christians (and wives) we are called to
"Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you." --Jesus, Matthew 5:48
Here is another great piece of scripture
A happy heart makes a face cheerful. Proverbs 15:13
So this week as you hustle and bustle around your place.....
remember your husbands hard work for the family, and take time when he returns to thank him and say how glad you are that he is there.
I know I am am working on it :)
We are all fighting the good fight together ladies!
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord. Psalm 19:14 NIV
