Turning Over A New Leaf (So to speak)

Well, the start of the month of November means changes in our school area. The cold winds are finally blowing outside, and we are ready! Away with all things harvest focused.... now we are looking to learn about Pilgrims and Indians. We will study both of their ways of life, and learn the history of Thanksgiving.

We began on Friday by learning about Teepees, and we created some little indians.

Indian or Pilgrim printable  - Here is the link, if you feel led to do this as well.

Each month I find myself just as excited as the kids to begin a new unit. The way I homeschool is that I have picked out different curriculim for the basics. language arts, math, reading etc.We also participate in a Co-op with 3 other families for our science.

Each month though, I pick out an over-arching theme for our exploration time. So far, we've done Oceans and fall studies. It provides us with ideas for field trips, art project, history, and is a general great jumping off point.
Homeschooling, fun for big kids and the littlest!
