Summer Time

People always talk about the lazy, hazy days of summer in songs. We have not had as many as I would have liked. Just now, in August we are finally hitting our comfortable stay at home stride. It is a beautiful thing.
Mornings filled with
books,
projects,
organizing,
singing,
dancing
and laughter
Afternoons filled with
upsraying hoses,
swingsets,
gravel crunching beneath our feet
and the sight of a swim suit covered child running through the grass.

So August means summer in my mind.

July meant Heritage Day planning and participating in. It was a great turn out! Bella and Conner loved their first chance to ride in a parade.
It also meant a visit from Janelle and girls night in town.
The month ended with a jaunt to Oregon and then back down to Santa Cruz for a wedding while Dave's mom watched our kiddos. I loved getting to know my husband again! It was so refreshing and such a blessing.
This last weekend summer meant having a cousins weekend. We did french braids, ate pizza, played in the mud, ate ice cream, did science experiments.
My favorite part was painting toes while we watched Cinderella in a fort made from a quilt.
What a nice summer memory.

I will spend the next few weeks getting ready for fall but, also savoring the last moments of free time. Such a precious commodity in todays busy world.

Love it mel, your summer sounds quite full yet lovely, full of wonderful events to remember. I hope you enjoy the rest of summer in a lazy hazy way! :) Fall is on the horizon, and I CANNOT wait for cooler weather, BUT I don't want summer to be over just yet. Hugs to you my friend!
