Two Doors= More Fun?

Today I had the pleasure of taking my longest shopping trip to date, after adding
Mr Conner to our humble house-hold.
For the most part it went rather well, except when the spirited one decided at several points in our journey that she wanted down or to be able to walk.
Mommy's will is stronger then Miss Spirited Bella so, despite much crying this was not permitted.
(Also thanks to being able to hide behind a friend's truck a spanking could be given)

Anyway,
I have come to the place in my life where I feel that a four-door car is a an absolute must for Mothers.
(I miss my Camry so much!)

In the Honda we get in a little differently:
It is rather interesting to sort of toss Bella in the back seat, wedge my curvy shape through the seat, twist my arms forward and push her buckles together.
Usually as I squirm back out my head hits the roof, knocking a few bobby pins and what little remains of my brain power lose.

Then, it is poor Conner's turn to be placed.
I tip him up...... then down...... then back up again as I force him past the front seat.
This is followed by a shimmy, shimmy shake as he comes down on the car seat base.
I wipe my sweaty brow and climb behind the wheel.
I played this little game of fun most of the morning.

After we finished shopping at Winco, Mr Conner said "Mother I'm Hungry".
Perhaps, not in those terms but, you get the idea.

So there I sat in the Winco parking lot.
Bella in back, munching on Pretzels
and Conner, in his car seat balanced between my legs, door wide open as I fed him his bottle.
(We didn't both fit in the front seat)
I felt like the poster-girl for the song
"Coal Miners Daughter"

Today was unique and I treasure it.
I collect memories along the way in my journey as a mom, these fill the pockets of my mind.
Some day when my children are old and grown,
I will pull them out, mull over them, and the joy of the sounds of my children will fill my heart.

However, at that point in my life I will own a four-door car again!

Melissa, my mom and I enjoyed reading about your day yesterday. I like how you look at it in a positive light. From mom: Reading your description of the hassle in moving kids in and out of vehicle brought back memories of our one-car days--a Pinto with two doors. Terry used it for a "truck" five days a week while working in remodeling...and then on Sunday we emptied it, put up the seat backs, installed two car seats and daughters, blankies, snacks, diaper bags, and tried to make it to church on time since he was the pastor...yikes! You really need a different vehicle so now I'll pray for one for you--convenience equals less stress in some ways, tho I'm not sure how that figures into our Character Building 101 classes. The blogging is a fun way not to feel isolated as a young mom, and I think the teacher in me loves the daily creative writing! someday I'll join you online...good news: our favorite "geek" expert is visiting Copper May 15th--he is a really terrific friend and computer component consultant who will encourage Terry to get rid of the horse and buggy.
