We kicked off our start of the school year by taking a tour of Shasta Dam. It is a tradition of ours now, and it's our 4th tour. Yep, we might be a little addicted to this tour.
We love the walk out to where the tour starts. We run back and forth checking over the sides to see the head-tower and other places.
The photo below shows below the dam, the penstocks and where the hydro-electric power comes from. It's tiny now, but soon we'll be up close and personal!
After riding down in an elevator to the middle of the dam, we make our way down the sea-foam green walkway.
The black dot shows us just how big those penstocks are compared to us!
It is so loud in the room with all the generators!
There are 5 generators in all and have been producing power for 60 years
Back through the hallway and ready to go back upstairs!
It's been another great visit. How long till we're back?
