Those Blessed Older Women

Today, I got some great parenting advice from a dear friend. She said to me
"You are explaining too much and trying too hard to be nice.
Just give them the order and if they do not obey discipline follows.
What you are trying to say as far as your direction is getting lost in all the talking"
I stepped back mentally, and said "Phew"
She was so right on!
I told her, that I had always promised myself to not allow this to happen in my parenting style but, slowly I had been overly explaining things to Bella when I should just say
"Pick up the toys now" or "Set that down now"
I was so grateful for the advice of one with more parenting years than me.
I am also thankful that she spoke up when she could have remained silent.
She has also encouraged my heart with "Don't get frustrated and embarrassed, they are just little kids and these days will pass"
What a reminder to value the older women we come into contact with.
They have so much to teach and share.
Titus 2:3-5
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live,
not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind,
and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God
